Brene Brown, in her seminal research work on VULNERABILITY and Shame, has given two important talks to the global community via TED.com. Having researched vulnerability for 9 years, she discovered that little has been documented on the impact of shame in our culture. 

What is the difference between Stress and Trauma ? How do you know if what you experienced was traumatic? Is that not just an individual interpretation?

As a human species, we are biologically designed to experience, endure and survive trauma. No different from other living organisms on this planet, we are genetically encoded to let go of and recover from trauma as a way of ridding ourselves of any experience that obstructs or interferes with the natural evolutionary process of the human body.

The medical world has labelled Post Traumatic Stress a ‘Disorder’ suggestive that there is something inherently ‘wrong’ with the person rather than him/her having a normal response to an unresolved traumatic experience. Hence the term Post Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI) has been used here in place of PTSD.

The unconscious und uncontrolled yet natural survival reactions we experience in a traumatic situation are supposed to be temporary and the body should be allowed to return to its natural relaxed state.
