Police and First Responders and TRE®
It was a great privilege on Wednesday 18 March 2015 to travel to Empangeni, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa to teach TRE to 60 firefighters, policemen & women, life savers & other emergency responders.
Doreen Sithole of the Umhlathuze Municipality has had a dream to do this for 2 years since her and I first met when I gave a TRE presentation to the Durban Practising Psychologists Group. Over this time Doreen has hung in there and never given up. In the interim she joined a 6-week TRE group workshop of mine in Durban North which she followed by obtaining Level 1 TRE certification and she is about to certify at Level 2 – well done Doreen!
We sent through proposals during the 2-year period in order to teach TRE to staff in the different divisions within the municipality and they were very keen, but funds were lacking. So Doreen used her initiative and recently approached a sponsor who made the event possible.
Brigitte Peel gave a great TRE presentation and thereafter 11 of us in total took the EMRs through the TRE exercises.
